History
Uchina Station opened on 20 July 1955 on the Geibi Line between Bingo-Yawata and Onuka, in what is now the city of Shōbara, Hiroshima Prefecture. It was built as a passenger-only, unstaffed stop and has been unstaffed throughout its history. The station became part of JR West on 1 April 1987 at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways. It consists of a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track, with no station building, but a small waiting room on the platform provides shelter. The toilet, a male-female shared facility, is located down a set of stairs beside the waiting room. In fiscal 2019 the station averaged about three passengers a day.
