History

Shin-Daiku-machi opened on 20 December 1934 on the same day as the Uma-machi – Hotarujaya extension of the Nagasaki Electric Tramway. The platforms have the standard relative layout and remained essentially unchanged from opening. It is stop number 40 on the Hotarujaya Branch Line. On 8 July 1962 a runaway 360-series tram from the Hotarujaya depot collided with the type-360 number 365 stationary at the stop, one of the more dramatic incidents in the line's post-war history.
