History

Shii-Kōen Station opened on 11 March 1989 on JR Kyushu's Hitahikosan Line in Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyūshū, Fukuoka Prefecture, 5.1 km from the line's starting point at Jōno. The station consists of a single side platform located in a cutting and is reached from the station building above by stairs and a slope. Shii-Kōen is unstaffed; daytime services average one train per hour, rising to two per hour during the morning and evening peaks. The Kitakyushu Monorail's headquarters and rolling-stock depot, and the Kitakyushu College of Technology, stand nearby.
