History
Shii Station opened on 25 February 1943 in Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyūshū, Fukuoka Prefecture, on the Hitahikosan Line of the Japanese Government Railways, later the Japanese National Railways. With the privatization of the JNR on 1 April 1987 it came under JR Kyushu. The original station building was demolished in 2014 and replaced with a compact unstaffed structure, and the platforms are connected by a footbridge. The station is 6.8 km from the line's starting point at Jōno and is served by roughly one train per hour during the daytime, rising to two per hour during the morning and evening peaks.
