Narutani tram stop opened on 7 November 1907 as part of the Ino Line extension from Edagawa to Ino — originally written 成谷停留場 (Narutani) at opening. The kanji of the name was changed to its present 鳴谷 form on 11 June 1955. A platform on the Ino-bound side was added on 9 November 2007. When Tosa Electric Railway merged with Kōchiken Kōtsū and Tosaden Dream Service on 1 October 2014, the stop became part of Tosaden Kōtsū. The two facing platforms sit on either side of the single track and the Harimaya-bashi-bound platform is roofed; until the 2007 reconfiguration the Ino-bound side had only an on-road safety zone.

When Narutani opened in 1907 its name was written with the kanji 成谷; the present spelling 鳴谷 was only adopted in 1955.
