History

Minami-Daitō Station opened on 1 October 1963 on the Kisuki Line between Izumo-Daitō and Kisuki, in present-day Unnan, Shimane Prefecture. It is the newest station on the line. The station became part of JR West on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of the Japan National Railways. The single ground-level side platform sits on the north side of the track with a waiting shelter in its middle and a sloped access path to a higher county road; there is no station building, and the station is unattended under the management of the Kisuki Railway Office. Daily ridership averaged 7 boarding passengers in fiscal 2019.
