History
The current Ekimae-Ōdōri Stop opened on 31 March 2005 on the Toyohashi Railroad Azumada Main Line (stop number 2). Its predecessor, an earlier stop sometimes called Ekiōdōri or, from 1 October 1968, Meihō-Biru-mae ("in front of the Meihō Building"), had been positioned slightly closer to Shinkawa Stop than today's site. The Meihō-Biru-mae stop was suspended on 10 January 1969 due to construction of a public car park and formally closed on 4 October 1969 — leaving the area without a tram stop for some 36 years until the present stop opened.
Notes
Today's stop has barrier-free design: the safety zones on both sides of Azalia-dōri are connected to the roadway by ramps rather than steps. The stop sits about 300 m from Ekimae Stop and about 350 m from Shinkawa Stop.
