History
Yanaiminato Station opened on 20 April 1929 on what is now the San'yō Main Line. It originally consisted of one side platform and one island platform, but the centre track has since been removed, leaving two parallel side platforms connected by a footbridge. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways the station passed to the West Japan Railway Company (JR West). It is presently unattended and sits 376.4 km from the Kobe terminus of the San'yō Main Line, serving the harbour district of the city of Yanai in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
