Yagoshima

Yagoshima Station opened on 27 December 1934 as a station of the state-run Aizu Line. Freight handling ceased in 1967 and parcel handling in 1971, after which the station became unstaffed apart from operational personnel. On 1 April 1987, with the breakup of the Japanese National Railways, it briefly came under JR East before being transferred on 16 July 1987 to the newly formed Aizu Railway, which now operates it. The station has a single side platform serving one bidirectional track and consists only of a small waiting room; the station signboard carries the phrase "Spray of the Ōkawa gorge".
