History
Yaga Station opened on 20 March 1929 as a stop on the privately operated Geibi Railway in what is now Higashi-ku, Hiroshima. The Geibi Railway was nationalised on 1 July 1937, upgrading the stop into a fully fledged station on the JNR Geibi Line. The station was suspended in August 1941, returned as a signal cabin in October 1942, and reopened as a station in April 1943. Following the JNR privatisation of 1 April 1987 it passed to JR West. ICOCA service began on 1 September 2007, and a Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office opened in July 2007 but closed on 30 September 2023, with the station becoming fully unattended the next day.
