• Hapi Line Fukui: Daishōji ⇄ Hosorogi

Ushinoya Station traces its origin to the Kumasaka Signal Station, opened on 15 November 1918 on the Japanese Government Railways Hokuriku Main Line between Hosorogi and Daishōji. It was upgraded to a full station and renamed Ushinoya on 15 April 1921. The Fukui Earthquake of 28 June 1948 tilted the building, with reconstruction spanning September to December that year. Freight handling ended on 1 October 1961 and parcel handling, along with destaffing, on 25 March 1971. JR West took over at the 1 April 1987 privatisation, and ICOCA support began on 15 September 2018. On 16 March 2024, in tandem with the Hokuriku Shinkansen's Kanazawa–Tsuruga extension, the station was transferred to Hapi-Line Fukui.

Ushinoya is the northernmost station in Fukui Prefecture; the line passes through Kumasaka Tunnel just 0.5 km north of the platform and immediately enters Ishikawa Prefecture on the far side.
