History

Toyohashi-Kōen-mae is a tram stop on the Toyohashi Railroad Azumada Main Line (stop number 6) in Hatchō-dōri 4-chōme, Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture. It originally opened around 1927 as Renpeijō-mae ("in front of the drill ground") Stop, was abolished at an unrecorded date, then reopened around 1950 as Kyūjō-mae ("in front of the baseball stadium") Stop during the postwar reconstruction's double-tracking programme. It was renamed Taiikukan-mae ("in front of the gymnasium") in September 1963, and then took its current name Toyohashi-Kōen-mae in June 1996.

Notes

The stop sits on combined-running track shared with National Route 1, and the two safety zones — one for each direction — are placed on opposite sides of an intersection rather than directly across from each other.
