History

Tosa-Shirahama Station opened on 1 October 1970 under the control of Japanese National Railways (JNR), on what is now the Tosa Kuroshio Railway Nakamura Line. After the privatisation of JNR, control of the station passed to the Tosa Kuroshio Railway on 1 April 1988. The unstaffed station, in Kuroshio, Hata District, Kōchi Prefecture, has a single side platform serving a single line on a high embankment above National Route 56. There is no station building, only an open-air platform with no shelter and a separate waiting shelter on a lower level reached by a ramp; the station is designated as a tsunami evacuation point.
