Torokko Kameoka Station opened on April 27, 1991 as the fourth and final stop on the Sagano Scenic Line, a sightseeing railway operated by Sagano Scenic Railway that follows the Hozukyō Ravine along the former JR West Sagano Line alignment. The station building was completed in April 1992 and is a two-storey steel-frame structure with cedar interior and exterior finished in a log-cabin style. The station has a single elevated platform on an embankment, with trains running toward Torokko Saga. Despite the name, it is not a transfer to JR West Kameoka Station, which is about 3 kilometers away.
