History

Heta Station opened on 1 March 1911 as a new station on the Railway Bureau's San'yō Main Line between Fukugawa and Tonomi, handling both passengers and freight. Freight operations ended on 1 September 1962 and parcel handling on 1 February 1984. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR West. ICOCA card use became available on 1 April 2023, and the original 1911 wooden station building was replaced by a simple shelter in June 2025.

Notes

The original wooden station building survived more than a century from the 1911 opening until it was replaced by a simple shelter in June 2025.
