History

Takamiya Station opened on 12 April 1924 with the opening of the Kyushu Railway (today's Nishitetsu Tenjin-Ōmuta Line). A platform footbridge was added in September 1967, and the Nishitetsu Hirao - Ōhashi section was elevated on 3 March 1978, including this station. An elevator went in on 21 December 2005 and nimoca card service began on 18 May 2008. Station numbering was introduced on 1 February 2017, giving Takamiya number T04. From 18 March 2024 weekday-morning northbound express trains began stopping (the 7:59 - 8:50 services from Ōhashi).

Notes

Takamiya's daily traffic has grown so much that in fiscal 2019 it overtook Nishitetsu-Futsukaichi — a limited-express stop — to become the seventh-busiest station on the Nishitetsu network. Platform usable length here is 12 cars.
