Location
History
Sugo Station serves the Iwate Ginga Railway Line in Takizawa, Iwate Prefecture, 10.2 kilometres from the line's southern terminus at Morioka. Trains of the JR East Hanawa Line continuing on to Morioka also call here. Planning for the station began in December 2001 under Takizawa Village, with the village and Iwate Prefecture jointly funding construction. The national government granted construction approval in August 2004 and the station opened on 18 March 2006. A ticket-counter terminal was installed in February 2012, and from March 2013 staffed gate and collection duties were extended into the late-evening hours. Park-and-ride parking adjoins the station, free for stays of up to two nights and three days.
Notes
The station forecourt has a municipal park-and-ride lot that is free for up to two nights and three days, an unusually generous arrangement intended to support commuters from outlying parts of Takizawa.
