Shin-Shiraoka Station opened on 26 February 1987 on the Tōhoku Main Line (Utsunomiya Line) in what is now the city of Shiraoka, Saitama Prefecture, in response to local residents' requests; before opening it was tentatively called "Kita-Shiraoka". On 1 April 1987, with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways, the station passed to JR East. On 18 November 2001 it began accepting the Suica IC card, and in February 2008 its Midori-no-Madoguchi staffed ticket office closed. On 17 October 2015 the area was rezoned and the station's address changed to Shin-Shiraoka 7-chōme.

Before opening, the station carried the working name "Kita-Shiraoka" (North Shiraoka); its present name was settled only weeks before service began.
