History

Senba-bashi opened on 20 June 1929 as Shioya-machi Station (塩屋町駅), was abolished at an unrecorded date, reopened as Shioya-machi in May 1948, and was renamed Senba-bashi in 1981. It is numbered B8 on the Kami-Kumamoto Line. The neighbouring section between Shin-machi and Senba-bashi runs in a private right-of-way rather than mixed traffic.

Notes

When trams pull into Senba-bashi the on-board approach jingle plays a snippet of "Anta-gata Doko-sa", a Higo-region children's temari-uta whose lyrics are set right here in old Funaba-machi across the Tsuboi River.
