Location
History
Sanbashi-Shakomae opened on 2 May 1904 on the Tosa Electric Railway as Sanbashi Station (桟橋停留場), the original terminus of the Ushioe Line. When the line was extended one block south on 7 April 1905, the new terminus took the Sanbashi name and this stop was renamed Ganpekidōri (岸壁通停留場); the exact date of that change is not recorded. On 10 January 2007 it was renamed Sanbashi-Shakomae and on 22 January 2009 the platforms were relocated about 50 m north and the subtitle "Jiyū-Minken Kinenkan-mae" was added. The stop transferred to Tosaden Kōtsū on 1 October 2014.
Notes
The "Ganpeki" (quay) in the stop's former name referred to the wharves of Kōchi Port — but every ferry route that once called there has since withdrawn.
