The stop opened on 1 June 1912 as Saidaijichō Stop, simultaneous with the opening of the Goshōka (today's Shiroshita)-to-Saidaijichō section of the Okayama Electric Tramway. It was renamed to its present, much longer form on 27 April 2023 ahead of the opening of the Okayama Geijutsu Sōzō Gekijō Halenowa performing-arts centre. The stop is in Kyōbashichō, Kita-ku, Okayama City, on the Higashiyama Main Line. Stop number H06. It has an island platform with a turnback siding on the Okayama-Ekimae side.

The 32-kana reading of the stop's full name is tied with Toyota Mobility Toyama G Square Gofuku-mae (Gofuku-Sueirochō) on the Toyama Chihō Railway tram line as the longest station name in Japan. In the weekday morning rush, one turnback service terminates at this stop to relieve overcrowding caused by the heavy concentration of students travelling to the Higashiyama district.
