Location

History

Resort Gateway Station is on the Maihama Resort Line's Disney Resort Line in Maihama, Urayasu, Chiba, opened on 27 July 2001 — and acts as the line's de-facto starting point, since trains leave the depot from here, with only the last service of the day terminating here. It connects to JR East's Maihama Station via a pedestrian deck and the Ikspiari shopping complex. Trains use two opposed platforms set on the line's 4th floor, with boarding and alighting strictly separated — boarding on the right, alighting on the left, with controlled circulation through the Ikspiari building to manage the large flow of Disney visitors. The station became PASMO-enabled on 14 March 2009.

Notes

When it opened in 2001, Resort Gateway Station recorded the second-highest daily ridership of any monorail station in Japan, with 37,663 daily passengers — second only to Monorail Hamamatsuchō on the Tokyo Monorail Haneda Airport Line.
