History

Rembo Station opened on 6 December 2015 with the Sendai Subway Tōzai Line, taking the station number T09. It lies in Wakabayashi Ward beneath Renbō-Kōji, and its name preserves the medieval memory of twenty-four temple precincts that once lined this street near the flourishing Mutsu Kokubun-ji temple. The island platform occupies the second basement level, with the ticket gates one floor above. The station has only two access points, the West 1 and East 1 exits, with bicycle parking adjoining the East 1 entrance. Construction had begun in 2006, and the name was formally announced on 24 December 2013. Day-to-day operations are handled by contracted staff from the security company Alsok.
