Ōta Station is the principal Tobu Railway junction in Ōta, Gunma, served by the Isesaki, Kiryū and Koizumi lines and numbered TI-18. It opened on 17 February 1909 when the Isesaki Line was extended from Ashikaga-machi. The Tobu Kiryū Line was added on 19 March 1913 after Tobu acquired the Ōta Light Railway, and the Koizumi Line opened on 1 June 1941 to serve the Nakajima Aircraft Company's Koizumi works. An air raid on 4 April 1945 destroyed the station and damaged about 1,067 tsubo of structures and 350 m of track; rebuilding was completed in 1954. A 28.9-billion-yen grade-separation project, begun in 1997, finished in 2007 with three elevated island platforms serving six tracks.

The station's February 1909 opening day was marked by a sumo tournament held on the station forecourt featuring three yokozuna, drawing large crowds to celebrate the line's extension into Ōta.
