History

Ōsoneura Station opened on 12 January 1957 on the Japan National Railways Kisei East Line during the extension between Owase and Kuki, and was incorporated into the Kisei Main Line when the lines were merged on 15 July 1959. The station has been unattended since 21 December 1983, and the original wooden station building has since been demolished, leaving only the island platform and a small canopy. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), under the management of Owase Station, and serves the city of Owase in Mie Prefecture.
