Ōsakura Station opened on 9 December 1926 as a stop on the Keisei Main Line, 53.0 km from the line's Tokyo terminus at Keisei-Ueno, in the city of Sakura, Chiba Prefecture. The station has two opposed side platforms connected by a level crossing within the station grounds. It was added to the limited-express stopping pattern on 10 December 2006, and assigned the station number KS36 on 17 July 2010 when Keisei introduced line-wide numbering. The station building is managed remotely from Keisei Sakura, and is unstaffed after 22:00, with an intercom provided for after-hours assistance.

Although the surrounding district is locally pronounced "Ōzakura" with a voiced "z", the station name has always been read "Ōsakura" with an unvoiced "s".
