History
Omi-Maiko Station opened on 20 July 1974 with the Japanese National Railways Kosei Line, handling passengers only and operating without staff. New Rapid services were extended to terminate here from 1 November 1986. The station passed to JR West at the 1 April 1987 privatisation. ICOCA support began on 1 November 2003, and on 26 March 2016 the local-line stopping pattern from south was withdrawn, leaving Omi-Maiko served only by trains running through to Kyoto. Station numbering JR-B19 was introduced on 17 March 2018, and the staffed ticket window closed on 30 June 2025.
Notes
A roughly 1-kilowatt wind turbine was installed at the north end of the platform on 1 December 2008, partly powering station lighting.
