History
Noda-Shimmachi Station opened on 18 March 2007 on the Tōkaidō Main Line between Higashi-Kariya and Kariya. The city of Kariya had been seeking a station here since around 1989; in March 2003 it signed a construction agreement with JR Central and bore the entire 2.814 billion yen cost as a petition station. Construction began in November 2005 and the official name "Noda-Shimmachi" was settled in December 2006. The station carries opposed side platforms with an overbridge concourse and was destaffed on 1 December 2020 with the introduction of JR Central's Customer Support Service. Station numbering as CA57 was introduced on 17 March 2018.
Notes
Because of how close the trackside is to neighbouring houses, the station's structures use view-selective glass that turns opaque when seen from certain angles, to preserve residents' privacy.
