History

Nanyō-Shiyakusho Station opened on 25 October 1988 with the inauguration of the Yamagata Railway Flower Nagai Line, when the former Japanese National Railways Nagai Line was converted to third-sector operation. The station serves Nanyō City Hall, which lies immediately adjacent, and sits just 0.9 kilometres from the line's Akayu starting point. It is unstaffed and consists of a single side platform serving one track, with a waiting room on the platform.
