• JR Nambu Line Hamakawasaki Branch: Musashi-Kosugi ⇄ Hirama

Mukaigawara Station opened on 9 March 1927 with the Nambu Railway's Kawasaki–Noborito section, taking its name from a local nickname meaning "the other side of the river" — a reference to a Tama River course change that had left part of Shimo-Numabe village as an exclave. The station was renamed Nihon-Denki-mae on 5 August 1940, reflecting the adjacent NEC plant, then restored to Mukaigawara when the Nambu Railway was nationalised on 1 April 1944. Freight handling ended on 1 February 1973. JR East took over on 1 April 1987, and smart platform doors entered service on 23 October 2024.

Although the Musashi-Kosugi Yokosuka Line concourse stands only about 300 metres west of Mukaigawara, the two stations have no fare-gate connection — Mukaigawara passengers cannot transfer there without exiting the system.
