History
Marunouchi Station, in Naka Ward, Nagoya, opened on 27 November 1981 as part of the Tsurumai Line extension; on 10 September 1989 a second set of platforms opened for the inauguration of the Sakura-dōri Line, making the station an interchange between the two routes. It carries station numbers T06 on the Tsurumai Line and S04 on the Sakura-dōri Line. Manaca IC cards were introduced on 11 February 2011, and platform-edge doors entered service on the Sakura-dōri Line on 5 March 2011 and on the Tsurumai Line on 10 March 2025. Administrative responsibility moved from the Sakura-dōri district to the Tsurumai operations district in July 2022.
Notes
The two lines cross under the perpendicular Fushimi-dōri and Sakura-dōri streets, so their platforms are far enough apart that a transfer between them on foot takes about five minutes.
