History

Kitanagase Station opened on 1 October 2005 on the site of the former JNR Okayama Switchyard, operated by West Japan Railway Company. The station serves the Sanyō Main Line at 146.8 km from Kobe and 3.4 km from Okayama, and also handles Hakubi Line services that run through past Kurashiki to terminate at Okayama. Two opposed side platforms are joined by an elevated station building with a wide white-roofed south exit, equipped with an elevator and accessible restroom. Between the two passenger tracks runs an outbound pull-up track for the Okayama Freight Terminal, used for shunting work.
