History

Kita-Sukematsu Station opened on 28 December 1957 on the Nankai Main Line between Takaishi-chō (now Takaishi) and Sukematsu (now Matsunohama), built specifically to serve the planned Sukematsu Housing Complex that opened in stages from 1961. The station is a ground-level structure with two opposed side platforms whose ticket gates are separate, so passengers transferring between platforms must exit and re-enter. Station numbering NK18 was assigned in April 2012. Local government has since considered an overhead-station rebuild as part of district master planning, though no construction has been programmed.
