Kii-Hiki Station opened on 30 October 1936 as an intermediate stop on what would become the Kisei Main Line (today marketed as the Kinokuni Line), located in the town of Shirahama in Nishimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. The station is 261.2 km from the line's northern terminus at Kameyama and 81.0 km from Shingū. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the West Japan Railway Company assumed operation. The station consists of two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a level crossing, and is unstaffed. The surrounding area is the centre of the former Hiokigawa township, now part of Shirahama, along the Hiki River.

In fiscal 2019, an average of 72 boarding passengers used Kii-Hiki each day — a figure unchanged from the equally rural Shimosato further along the same line.
