Kanzakigawa Station opened on 16 July 1920 with the Hanshin Kyūkō Electric Railway's (later Hankyu) Kobe Line, in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture. It takes its name from the Kanzaki River immediately to the north-west of the platforms. The station has two opposed side platforms at ground level on the river embankment and a fill section towards Osaka-Umeda. An elevator linking the Umeda-bound platform with the east ticket gate was added during accessibility upgrades. Station number HK-04 was introduced on 21 December 2013. Along with Nakatsu, Kanzakigawa has never had an express stop in the Hankyu Kobe Line's history.

Together with Nakatsu, Kanzakigawa is one of only two stations on the Hankyu Kobe Line that has never been a stop for any express service since the line opened in 1920.
