History

Kami-Yamaguchi Station opened on 10 April 1953 on the Japanese National Railways Yamaguchi Line, in what is today the city of Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The unstaffed stop sits 13.9 kilometres from the line origin at Shin-Yamaguchi and consists of a single side platform serving one bi-directional track with no permanent station building. Following the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR, the station passed to West Japan Railway Company (JR West), which has continued to operate it as a low-traffic local stop on the Yamaguchi Line.
