• Etsumi North Line: Shimo-Yuino ⇄ Kadohara

Kakigashima Station opened on 15 December 1960 on the Etsumi-Hoku Line (now also branded the Kuzuryū Line) in the city of Ōno, Fukui Prefecture. Originally a Japanese National Railways stop, it was inaugurated as an unstaffed passenger halt between Echizen-Hanandō and Kadohara when the segment first opened. The line passed to JR West at the JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987. Heavy rainfall in July 2004 forced a temporary suspension of the entire Etsumi-Hoku Line — Kakigashima closed on 18 July and reopened with the Echizen-Ōno–Kuzuryū-ko section on 20 July 2004. The single platform sits atop an earth fill with only a basic shelter.

Although the platform stands within sight of the Kuzuryū River and the Daiichi-Kuzuryūgawa railway bridge, there is no direct walking route across to National Route 158 on the opposite bank — reaching the highway requires a long detour via Fukui Prefectural Route 239.
