Kaizu Station opened on 1 March 2005 on the Aichi Loop Line in the city of Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, alongside the new Aikan-Umetsubo Station. Both stations were built at Toyota's request to serve rising local demand and to handle visitors to the 2005 World Expo (Expo 2005 Aichi); the combined construction cost of approximately ¥1.19 billion was borne by the city as a petitioner-funded project. Staffing for ticket-gate operations began on 25 April 2005, ticket sales started on 15 March 2008, and TOICA IC-card service was introduced on 2 March 2019. The station has a single side platform and an elevator on the south side.

The exterior of the station building was deliberately modelled on the architecture of nearby Chukyo University's Toyota campus, the institution that contributes its subsidiary name.
