History
Hiraki Station opened on 1 October 1938 on the Kyushu Railway company's line between Kurume and Ōmuta. The operator merged with the Kyushu Electric Tramway on 19 September 1942 and was renamed Nishi-Nippon Railway three days later, on 22 September 1942, placing the station under the new corporate identity. The station building was rebuilt twice — first in September 1965 and again on 3 April 1993, when the current structure was completed. ICカード nimoca became usable on 18 May 2008, station numbering (T44) was introduced on 1 February 2017, and the platform was renovated in March 2018. Following the introduction of a centralised station management system, Hiraki has been fully unstaffed since 1 April 2021.
