It opened on 25 October 1934 when the Railway Ministry's Takayama Main Line was extended from Hida-Kosaka to Sakagami. Freight handling ended on 20 April 1973, baggage on 1 February 1984, and the station became simplified-consigned on 1 June 1985. JR Central took over on 1 April 1987, and the station was fully unstaffed on 1 April 2007.
Notes
Hida-Kokufu retains its original large wooden station building from the days when staff were posted, although the trackside toilets have since been demolished. The site now offers parking for a handful of cars.
