History

Hayashi Station opened on 19 November 1956 as a passenger-only unstaffed station on the Jōhana Line. It passed to JR West at privatisation on 1 April 1987. The original waiting room was rebuilt in late 2019 due to age, and ICOCA became available on 14 March 2026.

Notes

Hayashi appeared as the key-visual location for "Yuruyuri Natsuyatsumi!", a 2014 anime OVA — putting this otherwise quiet Toyama-Prefecture flag stop on the map for fans of the franchise.
