Hasunuma Station opened on 6 October 1922 on the Ikegami Electric Railway. The name was taken from the contemporary address, Ōaza Hasunuma in Yaguchi village, Ebara County: the surrounding area, like neighbouring Kamata, was once a low-lying wetland of ponds and marshes, and a particular marsh in which lotus grew gave rise to the place name. The Ikegami Electric Railway was later absorbed into the Tōkyō-Yokohama Electric Railway, and the station is today part of the Tōkyū Ikegami Line. It has two opposed side platforms, each served by its own ticket gate, so paid-area transfer between the platforms is not possible. The station is in Nishi-Kamata 7-chōme, Ōta-ku, Tōkyō, and carries station number IK14.
