History
Harborland Station opened on 7 July 2001 with the inauguration of the Kobe Municipal Subway's Kaigan Line, located underground between JR Kōbe Station and the Hamate Bypass. Designed around the theme of a "modern city by the sea," the station has a single island platform on the second basement with a spacious concourse and a skylit atrium connecting it to the underground Duo Kobe shopping arcade. Patronage has lagged far below the 25,832-rider daily forecast made when the line was planned, sitting at roughly 30% of that figure.
Notes
Tile prints of newborn handprints and footprints collected during a public call in 2000 are displayed at each Kaigan Line station; Harborland's panel includes those of future professional golfers Ayaka Furue and Yuka Yasuda.
