Goryō Station opened on 11 January 1999 with the inauguration of the Ibara Railway Ibara Line.

An unstaffed elevated stop with two relative platforms able to host a train meet, Goryō has a waiting area beneath the viaduct but no ticket machines; the station nameplate carries an illustration based on the demon legend of nearby Dōdō Park.
