Fukuchi Station opened on 13 February 1915 as Isshikiguchi Station on the Nishio Railway, in present-day Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture. It joined the Aichi Electric Railway by merger on 1 December 1926 and became part of Nagoya Railroad with the 1935 formation of Meitetsu. The station was renamed Fukuchi on 1 March 1949, freight ended in fiscal 1962, and staffing was withdrawn on 16 February 1967. A centralised station management system, Tranpass and an all-stops service pattern arrived together on 29 June 2008, IC card travel using manaca began on 11 February 2011, and the timetable revision of 18 March 2023 reinstated limited-express stops here.

A keychain issued in 2022 to mark the white-band repaint of the 6000-series misprinted the station's name as Fukuchi using an incorrect kanji, swapping the second character for one meaning "know".
