History

Emmachi Station is a Sagano Line (San'in Main Line) stop in Nakagyō-ku, Kyoto, operated by JR West. It opened on 23 September 2000 with the elevated double-tracking of the Nijō–Hanazono section. From 2001 a portion of rapid trains began stopping, and by 2002 all rapids did. Station number JR-E05 was introduced in March 2018. Although on a double-tracked elevated structure, the absence of any internal switches makes it formally classed as a halt rather than a full station.

Notes

The site once faced the Kyoto headquarters of the Ninomiya electronics chain, later sold to Midori Denka following the chain's bankruptcy.
