Bizen-Hara Station first opened on 1 April 1927 as a temporary stop called Hara on the Chūgoku Railway main line between Tamakashi and Hōkaiin Stations in what is now Kita-ku, Okayama. It closed six months later, reopened on 20 February 1928, and was upgraded to a permanent passenger station on 20 June 1929. When the Chūgoku Railway was nationalised on 1 June 1944 the stop joined the Tsuyama Line and was renamed Bizen-Hara to distinguish it from other "Hara" stations. Parcel handling ended and the station was destaffed on 15 November 1971. Operation passed to JR West on 1 April 1987.
