History

Bashamichi Station opened on 1 February 2004 with the inauguration of the Yokohama Minatomirai Railway's Minatomirai Line, a 4.1-kilometre underground route from Yokohama to Motomachi-Chūkagai operated by Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Company. Sitting beneath the former Yokohama Bank head office in Naka Ward, the station carries number MM04 and serves trains through-running to and from the Tokyu Tōyoko Line, the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, the Tobu Tōjō Line and the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Platform-edge doors entered service on 14 September 2019, and on 6 June 2020 a 'Yokohama City Hall' sub-name was added after the new city hall opened nearby on 1 June 2020.

Notes

The station's walls reuse genuine pre-Taishō brickwork, and the entrance hall preserves the original façade of the former Yokohama Bank head office, now designated a Yokohama Historic Building.
