Abozaki Station opened on 9 March 1955 as Azumazaki Station (吾妻崎駅). It was renamed Abozaki on 5 November 1960.

Abozaki is a ground-level unstaffed station with one side platform and a single track; there is no station building, only a waiting shelter and a bicycle park on the platform itself, which is slightly curved because the station was sited on a bend.
